Manufacturing

Weir S&H’s production services department prides itself on the knowledge and expertise that has been built up over decades of manufacturing equipment from a wide range of materials for our nuclear, defence and aerospace design teams. This includes a provision to cope with hazardous and contaminated items. In more recent years we have seen substantial growth in work involving manufacturing to customers’ designs for both one off and batch production.

The capability and capacity of our production department has been continuously developed to provide the quality and service demanded by our customers. The productions departments are supported by a team of inspectors and professional engineering design, and project management resources of Weir S&H can be utilised in support of manufacturing, assembly and test activities.

The value of our assembly and test facilities has increased in recent years as clients seek to test engineering components off line and we are able to provide access to equipment either in the existing test facilities or by the supply of bespoke test equipment in our Ashton works.

Site

Our Site installation, commissioning and operational support across the nuclear business has been developed to underpin our total project capability in the provision of high integrity, complex mechanical handling equipment.

We are able to mobilise multi-skilled teams, consisting of SQEP accredited craftsmen ( mechanical / electrical fitters, riggers, welders ), discipline engineers (mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation, hydraulic), test & commissioning engineers, site project engineers and site project managers.

We can provide teams to work directly for Client core teams or as is more frequently the case, support integrated project teams, which include other specialist sub-contractors and client personnel. Our site personnel are committed and culturally aligned to industry requirements in terms of radiological, environmental, and personal Safety. Similarly, our sites work within the comprehensive quality processes that are a pre-requisite in the nuclear industry.

In a continual effort to improve our site offer, we also provide site based procurement, manufacture, and subcontract management services for our own projects or 3rd party plant and equipment.
